Onion Dressing Recipe

Onion Dressing

Onion Dressing (オニオンドレッシング) is a salad dressing made with grated brown onion, Soy Sauce, and rice vinegar. This dressing is full of onion flavor, but not as harsh as you may think. It is not only good on regular salad, but it’s also great with grilled meat and seafood.

Grated onion dressing is pretty common in Japan, and you can easily buy it in a bottle. But it is quite easy to make Onion Dressing at home too. This Soy Sauce-based dressing is perfect for salad in Japanese meals, but it’s a good dressing in more western-style meals too. Our Onion Dressing is particularly good because it is not so harsh and spicy as raw onion normally is. We cook grated onion and other seasonings on the stove, and the onion taste and smell become much milder in the process of heating up. It is delicious on cold or warm vegetables as well as on grilled chicken and steak.

Because the dressing is cooked, it should last longer, about 2 weeks in the refrigerator, kept it in a clean container. It’s ok to use a food processor instead of a grater if that works better for you. It may be hard for all of us to eat enough vegetables all the time, but this tasty Onion Dressing can help you out. So try it soon!
