We are excited to announce that we now have our own Japanese Cooking 101 Store on Amazon.com where we post and curate our favorite things in the kitchen! It’s still work in progress as of today, but we are planning on posting our honest product review videos and photos regularly and adding more items to our idea lists. While we do get small commissions from the sales, we only list items that we actually use and like. While we try to be informative and honest when reviewing products, chances are that you have already seen the actual products used in our recipes anyway such as 365 by Whole Foods Market Panko Bread Crumbs (#ad) in our recent recipe: Deep-Fried Sea Scallop.

Hi everyone!! We are starting a NEW channel called “Oishii TV“! The first 3 videos will be published on April 9, 10, and 11. They are not recipe videos but more personal ones like vlogs.

April 9 and 11 we will launch our own vlogs.  Enjoy each of our unique stories from our daily lives.  April 10 we will launch a joint vlog where we get together and talk. The first episode will be “10 Japanese Foods from Trader Joe’s.”  We will try 10 foods and share our honest opinions, so hope you will enjoy it!

We will publish our personal vlogs every week and our joint vlog once a month! Be sure to subscribe to our new channel so you will get notifications whenever we upload new content.
We are so excited and looking forward to sharing our stories with you soon!!

Upcoming schedule (PDT):

  • April 9 – What’s for Lunch – Noriko’s vlog
  • April 10 – “10 Japanese Foods from Trader Joe’s”
  • April 11 – Sunday Vlog by Yuko

We have a big announcement!  Our first cookbook titled Simply Bento: Delicious Box Lunch Ideas for Healthy Portions to Go is released from Quarto Publishing company! There are over 70 delicious and practical Bento recipes with more than 60 easy side dish recipes.

The majority of the recipes are newly created for the book.  Some of the recipes are classic Japanese Bentos like we usually cook on our website Japanese Cooking 101, such as Teriyaki Chicken Bento, but there are also more trendy American style Bento, including Quinoa Salad Bento.

Simply Bento shows you the finer points of bento-making, and there is something for everyone:

  • Classic Japanese Bento
  • Sandwich Bento
  • Sushi and Onigiri Bento
  • 10-Minute Bento
  • Noodle Bento
  • Low-Carb Bento
  • Vegan Bento
  • Popular Japanese Bento
  • Bento for Special Occasions (including First Day of School and Halloween Bento!)

Simply Bento

The book will teach you how to cook the recipes, of course, and how to prepare foods in advance and manage time.

If you want to give kids and family tasty but nutritious Bento lunches, this book is perfect for that.  If you work and want to bring your own lunch to save money, control weight, or just want to eat tasty Bento, this book will work great too.  Also, the main dishes of the Bento can be converted into dinner entrees easily, by multiplying the recipes to feed your entire family.

Keep this book in your kitchen for yourself or give it to your family and friends to encourage healthy and delicious cooking!
