Satsumaimo Gohan (Japanese Sweet Potato Rice)

Steamed rice cooked with Satsumaimo (Japanese Sweet Potato).

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice (rice cooker cup = 180ml)
  • 1 Satsumaimo ((Japanese sweet potato))
  • 1 tbsp sake ((optional))
  • 1 tsp salt
  • black sesame seeds

Instructions 

  • Rinse the rice and place in a rice cooker bowl. Add water to the line 2 (cups) inside the bowl. Let soak while preparing for the rest.
  • Cut the satsumaimo into 1/2 inch cubes and immediately soak in water for 10 minutes. Strain.
  • Add the sake (optional) and salt in the rice cooker bowl and stir. Add the satsumaimo on top and cook in the rice cooker.
  • Serve in a bowl and top with black sesame seeds.
