Yakitomorokoshi is grilled corn brushed with soy sauce. It is loved by Japanese people at fairs and festivals and it is one of the most popular staples of street vendors. The smell of grilled soy sauce is so tasty and appetizing. We find the sweetness from summer corn and the saltiness of soy sauce are the best match.
Yakitomorokoshi is so simple to make that you may not need a recipe, but this tip may help: if you cook the corn before putting on the grill, you can shorten the grilling time a lot. Then you only need to brown them on the grill which takes just a few minutes.
If you’re looking for an easy and tasty barbeque side dish, this is the one to try!
