Shichimi Togarashi (also called Nanami Togarashi) is a spicy powder that is often sprinkled on hot noodle soups. Shichimi means seven (shichi) flavors (mi) from the seven ingredients in Shichimi: red hot pepper, orange peel, white and black sesames, Japanese pepper (Sanshou), ginger, and green seaweed. It tastes hot but also has a nice fragrance to it. It is actually quite hot, so use a small amount first and adjust.
